The Alderson Broaddus University School of Nursing has successfully completed the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) process for its baccalaureate program. The program design accommodates three populations of students who are seeking the necessary education to practice nursing with a bachelor’s degree.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program provides the foundation for students who seek licensure as registered professional nurses and makes it possible to continue their nursing education to a graduate level. The BSN student is prepared for entry into practice and to enter a master’s program for a degree in areas such as nursing education, nursing administration, nurse practitioner, or nurse anesthetist.
The Licensed Practical Nurse-Bachelor of Science in Nursing (LPN-BSN) program is designed to refine direct patient-care nursing skills and support the increasing needs of a high-demand profession. The LPN-BSN program prepares students to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
The Online Registered Nurse-Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN) degree completion program allows RNs to complete the bachelor’s degree designed to meet career goals and inspire more effective leaders in a variety of community health, general hospital care, emergency care, and intensive care settings.
Following the completion of a comprehensive self-study and hosting a site visit conducted in September 2019, the ACEN Board of Commissioners granted continuing accreditation without any conditions and scheduled the next evaluation visit for fall 2027.
“Earning accreditation for our nursing programs through ACEN affirms we are delivering on our responsibility to offer quality education for our students,” said Dr. Kim White, chair of the school of nursing. “The high quality of nurses graduating from AB relates directly to the fine caliber of students who enter the program, and to the personal commitment of the nursing faculty and the excellence of the total college curriculum.”
