Alderson Broaddus University officials continue to closely monitor state and national news and guidelines related to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Beginning Monday, March 23, Alderson Broaddus will deliver classes via virtual learning through the remainder of the semester. AB is also implementing a campus-wide remote working strategy for employees for two weeks. Only those employees who are deemed essential for the function of specific areas will be permitted on campus

Alderson Broaddus University President Dr. James “Tim” Barry announced on March 19, 2020, that AB was taking proactive steps to safeguard the University and to maximize social distancing.

“Of paramount importance in dealing with the current challenges is the health and well-being of our faculty, staff, and students,” said Dr. Barry. “We will continue to operate the University to the best of our ability in an online and remote capacity in order to serve our students and their progress toward degree completion.”

To prepare for this online learning environment, AB had extended spring break and facilitated trainings for all faculty on how to transition into virtual learning platforms. Campus services, including academic advising, tutoring, and personal counseling, are still available online to serve students and their families.

All residence halls are to close by March 31. Students who are unable to move out will be working with AB’s Office of Student Affairs to make accommodations.

Alderson Broaddus continues to receive COVID-19 updates from a variety of local, state, regional, and national sources daily. It is crucial that students, faculty, and staff closely monitor our website ab.edu/coronavirus, our emergency alert system, and their AB email for updates.
